Birth Pool Instructions

It is important to be prepared and know how to set up your
birth pool before the big day! We recommend you do a trial run to see how long
it takes to set up and fill your birth pool around or prior to 37 weeks.

*PLEASE READ IMPORTANT INFORMATION AT THE BOTTOM*

 Easy 5 step
set up:

  1. Remove
the pool from the box and lay out on a clean and flat surface until room
temperature. Place on top of a blanket/rug to help prevent heat loss of
the water. Additionally, purchase one of our waterproof PVC flower-shaped
    mats to keep things clean.
  2. Use the
smallest nozzle of your air pump to inflate the floor, followed by the seat/s.
  3. Use the
largest nozzle of your air pump and the 2 way valve to inflate the walls to 80% (to allow
    liner to be fitted).
  4. Unpackage
liner and place on the pool ensuring the holes line up with the handles
(Add rubber coated fairy lights under the liner with battery pack hanging
down outside the pool if desired).
  5. After fitting
liner use the medium nozzle on your air pump and the 1 way valve to complete inflation.

Easy 5 step
fill up:

  1. Attach your tap adaptor to a desired tap in your
    home (i.e., laundry, kitchen, bathroom)
  2. Attach your hose adaptor to your food grade
hose and attach to the tap adaptor.
  3. Begin to fill your pool with cool water first
to avoid damaging the liner/pool and gradually make it warmer to approximately
37 degrees. Use a floating thermometer or check the temperature every 15
minutes to ensure the temperature is maintained. This can be done by adding hot
    water by hose or kettle.
  4. Once water has covered the bottom of the pool,
smooth out any folds or wrinkles in the liner around the floor and seat/s.
  5. Fill the pool to at least 45cm as indicated on
the pool and then turn off the water supply and remove the hose.

Easy 5 step
water removal:

  1. Remove any debris from the pool using a net or
    sieve.
  2. Before Connecting your hose to the submersible
pump, ensure you have taken the hose adaptor off. Place the end of the hose into
the top of the submersible pump and lower into the water ensuring the suction
cups are on the bottom of the pool.
  3. Place other end of hose into the chosen drainage
source and turn the pump on.
  4. Once water has reached the pump level tun off
the pump and dispose the rest of the water by removing the liner and pouring
    water into your chosen source.
  5. Put your submersible pump through a sanitation
bath and turn it on so that it can flush for 5 seconds.

Easy 5 step
pack up:

  1. Ensure the pool is clean and dry with towels
and antibacterial solution before starting pack up.
  2. Open the 2 way valve on the outside of the pool
wall and use the large nozzle of your air pump on the deflate
setting to deflate the pool ensuring all air is out before closing the valve (the
smaller 1 way valve will not work for deflating).
  3. Use the small nozzle of the air pump to deflate the floor and
    seat/s.
  4. Ensure all air is out of all areas before
folding in 3 and rolling up your pool.
  5. If hiring, dispose of hoses and liners before packing
    remaining equipment and returning.

  • Ensure your tap adaptors and hose connectors are suitable
for your taps and hose and that your hose will reach from the tap to the pool. Whilst
our tap adaptors and connectors should fit in most households, we cannot guarantee.
You can purchase alternative accessories at a hardware store if necessary.
  • Filling time is dependent on water supply, hence the
    importance of a practice run!

IMPORTANT

  • Do not leave pool unattended when filled
with water, especially in the presence of children.
  • Do not leave children unattended if playing
    in or near the pool.
  • Read and follow all instructions before
    setting up your pool.
  • Ensure pool is at room temperature before
    inflating.
  • Ensure the pool is in a safe place that can
withhold its weight when filled and located away from electricity.
  • Do not fill the pool with water above 40
    degrees.
  • If pool has been inflated for some time, make
sure to top up before use as the pools my deflate slightly over time.
  • Avoid sharp jewelery and other sharp objects
such as non rubber-coated fairy lights in the pool (you can purchase
rubber-coated fairy lights from us that are safe to use under the liner of your
    pool).
  • Always consult a qualified health professional
(i.e., midwife or doctor) before using the pool for birth.
  • Always use a new liner for birth as well as a
new/clean food grade hose to fill the pool to avoid risk of infection.
  • Make sure the pool is in an accessible place
for yourself and your care providers (at least 3 sides of the pool are accessible)
  • When used for birth the pool must be filled to at
    least 45cm
  • Store your birth pool in a dry and clean space - preferably in a box/storage container where it cannot be damaged by anything else.
